It's almost that time of the year again — When summer falls into Autumn and a slight chill begins to fill the air. The wonderful hues of fallen leaves cover the ground and let’s not forget Pumpkin, Apple, and Cinnamon everything! This is when we start prepping for the nearing holidays and celebrations with family and friends. If you’re anything like us, fall is one of your favorite times of the year. Because we love the season so much, Dave and I thought that we would share our ten fall must haves! Dive in!
Tyna’s Top 5
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
But first, COFFEE! This is always number one for me on any day, any season! But I know exactly why coffee just seems to taste better in the fall. It could be the wonder spice flavors bursting on your taste buds or maybe because the warmth of it filling your body escaping the chill in the air just brings a very comforting feeling. Add that with a warm cozy throw, a good book, or your favorite Netflix show. Aah It’s the little things that make me smile.
Knitted Throws
Not only are they snuggly, throws are definitely a stylish accessory every home should have. They add texture, softness, and even color to a space. These throws are definitely a must have to curl up on the sofa on a chilly fall day. My favorite throws to have out for this time of year is definitely a handmade knitted throw.
Limbo Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ColourPop
Fall is a great time to bring out those brown and plum colors .Limbo from Colorpop is definitely my favorite fall Matte lipstick to rock. I keep my makeup pretty simple for the most part. I'm not much of a bold eyeshadow girl but I am all for bold statement on your lips and this gorgeous color is my go to for fall. It's a deep chocolate brown color with warm undertones. It gives a luxurious and intense color, it has a very 90’s feel!
Leather Jacket and oversized Hoodie
Every year I look forward to fall, especially for the fashion. One of my favorite trends for this time of year is Layers. I love a simple sweater, with an oversized scarf. Tight jeans with Knee high boots. Or a turtle neck with a distressed denim jacket on top, YASSSSSS! Are you guys with me? Of all these styles, my all time favorite thing to wear in the fall is an oversized hoodie paired with a leather jacket. This has been a favorite of mine since I used to live in New York. There's something strong, sleek, and almost rebellious about it. Whenever I wear this combination I feel the most like myself. Pair it with some aviator glasses if you don't want to wear makeup, or even messy bun with a full beat face!
Mums, Mums and More Mums
Get your cameras ready, for these Instagram-worthy flowers. Autumn would not be complete without these beauties. These large, thick bouquet of flowers, their array of colors from deep plum, bright yellows, to rich oranges; all while sitting in a beautiful wicker or tin basket its absolutely gorgeous. I love seeing these on display on front porches partnered with tons of large pumpkins. Check out these beauties from @kindredvintage. It's quite breathtaking.
Dave’s Top 5
For me, Autumn always gave me a lot to look forward to. The changing of the leaves is always an exciting experience to get to have every year and fall Holidays are a great collection of holidays. Not to mention it’s my favorite season for Men’s Fashion. This time of year is great because you aren’t bundled up in big heavy coats, but you also aren’t so hot that you just put on a graphic tee and some shorts. You have options; which brings me to my first fall must have —
Sweatshirts
Now I know people love ugly Christmas sweaters but those are pretty niche garments. You wear them to your office parties or family photos. Then, they get tossed in the back of the closet at least until next year if you even decide to ever wear them again at all. This is NOT what I’m talking about. It’s something about a dope sweatshirt. Throw a T-shirt on underneath and/ or a jacket on top and that will open up even more options for you. Not only that but it will allow you to shed a layer or two for the unpredictable fall weather in some areas.
Nba 2K
Every year around the same time 2K sports releases their flagship game. Whether you are an Xbox, PlayStation, or PC fan you are aware of the emergence of esports and along with Madden, 2K is top tier. They have so many game modes that you are able to participate in any part of the basketball world. Whether you want to be a Legend at street courts or a GM of a team who focuses more on contract negotiations and the business aspect of the game. My favorite part is the MyCAREER mode which allows me to create a player and build him into a superstar by playing various types of games and earning experience points or “XP.” Honestly I’m average at the game but I love it and since when has being good at sports been a prerequisite for playing?
Rocking chairs
You know that crisp brisk breeze that you start to feel right before the leaves fall? That is prime rocking chair season. I like to sit on my porch with a cigar and a glass of Zacara and coke. You mix that with some gentle swaying in the breeze and it’s one of the most relaxing things in the world for me. Truth be told I love to do this in most weather. A thunderstorm is another excellent time to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. No mosquitoes, no bees, just me, my chair, and the view. Must have.
S’mores
You can ask Tyna, she knows how much I love S’mores. I eat them year round. BUT, this is definitely a fall food tradition. Graham crackers go on sale this time of year. You start to see the end caps at the grocery store full of “S’mores kits.” Hershey’s starts airing commercials of kids around campfires. This is a fun and easy treat that you can make with your kids in minutes. It doesn’t have to be a traditional S’more either. It can be any type of concoction. Just last week I made this treat. But don’t let this fun and these delicious treats go to waste on the kids. This is something we can all enjoy!
Denim Jackets
I started this list with fashion and I’ll finish it with fashion. Denim Jackets are great for so many reasons. They’re practically timeless. You can drop me in any decade in the last century and if I’m wearing a denim jacket I’d fit right in. You can customize them in a bunch of different ways. Airbrush them, distress them, throw buttons on them. Or just rock them plain Jane OG style. Hell, for the more flamboyant fashion types you can even bedazzle them shits. All of this is thanks to the versatility of the Denim jacket. Definitely a must have. There are so many cool things to do this time of year and it’s a great to hang outside and just chill. So many memorable smells. Just an overall great time of year.
